The Bio Energy Experts

World Biofuels Rotterdam

February 27, 2013

We are looking forward to attending this years World Biofuels event in Rotterdam in a few weeks time. We have attended every one of these events, since there inception almost a decade ago. We have provided input to every event either as a speaker or panel chair.

This year Ian Waller will be chairing a discussion panel concerning the interaction between the science of indirect land use change (iLUC) and policy making relating to this science. The panel will include representatives of the environmental lobbying groups as well as policy makers. We are looking forward to a lively debate, not least because our own work in this area has shown how the current European Commission proposals in response to the iLUC challenge may actually increase overall green house gas emissions.

The challenge is how to adopt the directional outcomes of iLUC science when the science itself is being challenged to create a useful BioEnergy policy.
